The Lady Library
Strand pairs up with The Wing for the ultimate library of female authors
The Wing and The Strand have collaborated to bring you the largest collection of female-identifying authors, curated by women, for women. The Wing, an all-female club and community space, which opened in 2016 to much fanfare, approached The Strand with a simple request for a library in their new location on Mercer Street: books, any books — written by or about female and female identifying artists.
The result is a library of over 2,000 books.
Three lady curators from Strand’s Books By The Foot team combed through The Strand’s extensive inventory to assembled a collection of thousands of books by female-identifying authors. The team cast a wide net, looking to create a diverse set of writers and subjects to represent a cross section of female thought and achievement across time. The result is a library of over 2,000 books — feminist theory to contemporary women’s fiction, biographies of artists and musicians to romance paperbacks.
These books, pulled from nearly every section in the store, will live at The Wing’s beautifully appointed library in Soho.
